Bursa Malaysia Turns Mixed At Midday
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia turned mixed at midday, with utilities, telecommunications and media, as well as industrial products and services counters continuing to provide support to the local bourse.
At 12.30 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) slid 6.14 points to 1,742.40 from Wednesday’s close of 1,748.54.
However, the broader market was positive, with gainers outnumbering losers 531 to 480, while 527 counters were unchanged, 1,335 untraded and 124 suspended.
The turnover totalled 2.02 billion units, worth RM1.52 billion.
In a note, Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd said Nvidia’s strong results and upbeat outlook are expected to provide a positive read-through to local technology counters.
Among the heavyweights, Maybank lost 12 sen to RM10.60, Public Bank gave up 11 sen to RM5.04, CIMB Group slid five sen to RM8.03, while Tenaga Nasional was flat at RM14.30 and IHH Healthcare was two sen higher at RM8.25.
On the most active list, Zetrix AI was two sen easier at 64 sen and Eco-Shop Marketing was one sen lower at RM1.45. Supermax gained four sen to 35 sen, NationGate added eight sen to RM1.78, but JAKS Resources edged down half a sen to 12 sen.
Top gainers included Malaysian Pacific Industries and SAM Engineering & Equipment, which jumped 26 sen each to RM42.94 and RM4.46, while Vitrox Corporation gained 23 sen to RM9.35, Unisem perked 19 sen to RM4.46, and Petronas Dagangan added 18 sen to RM20.70.
Among the top losers, Nestle slipped 40 sen to RM103.60, United Plantations dropped 26 sen to RM31.26, Dutch Lady Milk Industries erased 20 sen to RM31.48, Kumpulan Fima reduced 14 sen to RM2.71, and Genting Plantations shrank 12 sen to RM5.83.
For the broader indices, the FBM Mid 70 Index climbed 56.59 points to 18,284.81, and the FBM Emas Shariah Index increased 34.09 points to 12,701.04.
However, the FBM Emas Index depreciated 17.31 points to 12,898.55, the FBM Top 100 Index decreased 23.58 points to 12,706.66, and the FBM ACE Index slipped 17.52 points to 5,335.43.
By sector, the Energy Index ticked up 5.48 points to 780.62, while the Industrial Products and Services Index edged up 1.00 points to 189.00.
However, the Financial Services Index fell 159.45 points to 20,296.30, and the Plantation Index gave up 72.42 points to 9,352.13.
