Gold Futures End Higher As US Dollar Weakens, Treasury Yields Fall

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 17 (Bernama) -- Gold futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives ended higher on weaker US dollar and lower US Treasury yields.

Quintex Intel global strategist Stephen Innes told Bernama that gold prices are expected to remain supported, with the precious metal trading back above US$4,400 an ounce.

At the close, the spot-month August 2026 contract rose to US$4,402.50 per troy ounce from US$4,358.70 per troy ounce on Friday, and the September 2026 contract improved to US$4,418.70 per troy ounce from US$4,374.90 per troy ounce previously.

The October and November 2026 contracts both increased to US$4,434.50 per troy ounce from US$4,390.6 per troy ounce at the end of last week, while the December 2026 and February 2027 contracts strengthened to US$4,442.30 per troy ounce from US$4,398.40 per troy ounce.

Trading volume shrank to 132 lots from 267 lots last Friday, while open interest dropped to 201 contracts from 339 contracts previously.

Physical gold was fixed at US$4,390.70 per troy ounce at the London Bullion Market Association’s afternoon fix on Aug 14, 2026.
