SD Guthrie 2Q Net Profit Rises To RM987 Mln
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 11 (Bernama) -- SD Guthrie Bhd’s (Guthrie) net profit for the second quarter of 2026 (2Q 2026) ended June 30 jumped to RM987 million from RM505 million in 2Q 2025.
The stronger performance was mainly driven by higher contributions from its industrial development and downstream segments, which more than offset lower earnings from the upstream segment, it said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.
Meanwhile, revenue was lower at RM4.94 billion, compared to RM5.16 billion previously.
In respect of its performance for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2026, Guthrie’s board has declared an interim dividend of 11.18 sen per share, to be paid on Nov 4, 2026.
In a separate statement, the certified sustainable palm oil producer reported a net profit of RM1.54 billion for the six months ended 30 June 2026 (1H 2026), marking a year-on-year (y-o-y) increase of 44 per cent.
Moving forward, the group said its upstream segment will continue to focus on operational excellence and climate risk management to mitigate the impact of adverse weather conditions.
“The downstream business remains focused on building a balanced portfolio through customer and market diversification, while leveraging the group’s scale to drive cost optimisation, strengthen cost competitiveness, and enhance resilience amid a challenging operating environment.
“The industrial development segment is expected to further strengthen its contribution to the group's earnings, supporting Guthrie’s transformation beyond plantations through greater earnings resilience and diversification,” it said.
Additionally, the renewable energy segment will continue to lay the foundation for long-term sustainable growth.
Chairman Tan Sri Dr Nik Norzrul Thani Nik Hassan Thani said that despite challenging economic and geopolitical uncertainties, Guthrie’s strategic and disciplined execution in 1H 2026 had delivered encouraging results.
“The new leadership’s ability to maintain the growth momentum set from the start of the year will enable Guthrie to deliver the right results and value to our shareholders,” he said.
Meanwhile, its president and group chief executive officer, Mohd Haris Mohd Arshad said Guthrie’s solid 1H performance underscores the progress of the group’s transformation into a more diversified and future-ready organisation beyond its traditional plantation base.
He noted that while the group expands its industrial development and renewable energy businesses through strategic partnerships, it will strengthen the group’s earnings resilience, creating new growth engines and positioning Guthrie for sustainable long-term value creation.
