Malaysia Needs To Focus On Boosting Financial Ecosystems To Help Local Firms Grow -- Amir Hamzah

He said the main challenge at the moment is not a lack of capital as the country currently has more than RM2.2 trillion in available capital, but the aspect that needs to be strengthened is the coordination and relationship between various financing mechanisms so that companies have a clear growth path.

“For now, I think we need to emphasise on further improving connectivity between these funds because the ‘pipeline’ is still small.

"They (funds) are indeed sufficient, but sometimes people do not know where to go or how to get help to improve their existing competitiveness," he said at a press conference on the Government-Linked Enterprises Activation and Reform Programme (GEAR-uP) Progress Report here today.

Amir Hamzah said the financing ecosystem needed to be structured more systematically so that local companies could go through every stage of growth with appropriate financial support.
