CIMB Securities Projects Mobile Industry Revenue To Rise 2-3 Pct In 2026
KUALA LUMPUR, July 24 (Bernama) -- The mobile industry’s revenue is projected to rise slightly by two to three per cent in 2026, driven by market repair, which could help cushion the impact of equity accounting for Digital Nasional Bhd's (DNB) net loss, said CIMB Securities.
The research house said the Ministry of Finance may complete the transfer of DNB shares to the telecom companies (telcos) in the third quarter of 2026 (3Q 2026).
“We are projecting DNB’s net loss at RM700 million, RM500 million, RM300 million in FY2026, FY2027 and FY2028 respectively, with three-month earnings impact for each telco in FY2026,” CIMB Securities said.
The research house also foresees decent fixed revenue growth of three to five per cent year-on-year (y-o-y) in the second half of 2026 (2H 2026), led by the domestic and international wholesale businesses, although this may be slightly dampened by the delay in the launch of the Asia Link Cable to end-2026.
“On the cost front, the impact from Telekom Malaysia’s 2H 2026 staff Prihatin programme may be smaller than expected, with FY2026 headline earnings before interest and taxes coming in above its flat y-o-y guidance,” it added.
