KL Midtown Unveils Sustainable Office Towers, Expects More Tenants Next Year

KUALA LUMPUR, July 23 (Bernama) -- KL Midtown today unveiled its sustainable signature office towers for leasing and expects to attract more tenants next year.

KL Midtown is developed by KL Midtown Sdn Bhd, a joint venture between Hap Seng Land and TTDI KL Metropolis.

Hap Seng Land director of property management Manfred Weber said the company has secured one tenant and will most probably secure two more tenants this year.

“We are handing over our first office space to the first tenant tomorrow, so the tenant will literally start their feed out Monday next week and it will take them about three months to do so.

“The real bigger wave of tenants we expect next year,” he told media in the KL Midtown Signature Office Towers media preview.

The Office Towers have been conferred the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification, with the Green Real Estate (GreenRE) Platinum certification to be obtained.

LEED is a globally recognised green building certification developed by the US Green Building Council (USGBC).

LEED Gold certification recognises buildings that achieve high standards in sustainability, energy efficiency, water conservation, indoor environmental quality and environmentally responsible design and operations.

Meanwhile, GreenRE was set up by the Real Estate and Housing Developer’s Association of Malaysia (REHDA) in 2013 to promote and drive sustainability in Malaysia’s real estate sector.

The office tower spans 19 floors with a total net leasing area of 453,000 square feet.

Weber said the demand for premium office space remains strong as some occupiers are willing to pay more for high-quality developments that offer a better working environment and strengthen their brand positioning.

“So far, we have seen positive response to it. We also feel that there is a certain type of tenant that wants to be associated with a certain type of development.

“They want to uplift themselves, uplift their brand and be in a development such as ours, and they are also prepared to pay a price for that,” he added.

The office towers provide direct access to Level 5 of the upcoming AEON Mall KL Midtown, slated to open in November this year, in addition to a connection to the already opened Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur at KL Midtown.
