EPIC Sees ECRL Spur Line Driving Revenue To RM700 Mln By 2030

KEMAMAN, July 21 (Bernama) -- EPIC Bhd expects the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project, particularly the spur line to Kemaman Port, to be a key growth driver, with revenue projected to reach RM700 million by 2030.

EPIC group chief executive officer Dr Muhtar Suhaili said the 22-hectare land reclamation works for the ECRL spur line into Kemaman Port are expected to be completed in September.

He said both the spur line and the reclamation works are scheduled to commence operations on Jan 1, 2027, in line with the plans of the Ministry of Transport and Malaysia Rail Link (MRL).

"The ECRL spur line to Kemaman Port will be a game changer for EPIC as it will strengthen the port's connectivity with Port Klang, Kuantan Port and the Klang Valley.

"Besides improving logistics efficiency, EPIC plans to enter the container cargo handling segment, a new business that will complement its existing operations, which are currently focused on dry bulk and breakbulk cargo," he told a press conference after the launch of National Training Week (NTW) 2026 at the company's headquarters today.

Muhtar said EPIC recorded its highest-ever revenue of RM411.9 million last year and is confident that the port expansion and ECRL-related developments will strengthen the group's financial performance over the next five years.

He said the ECRL is also expected to reduce reliance on road transport, making cargo movement faster, more efficient and more competitive.

Separately, Muhtar said EPIC is expanding the capacity of the Kemaman Supply Base by building new warehouses to meet demand from the oil and gas industry.

He said the supply base currently has 45 warehouses, with two more scheduled for construction next year, followed by another in the following year.

"The Kemaman Supply Base currently houses 262 tenants, including Petroleum Arrangement Contractors (PACs), with about 9,000 personnel operating there daily, including nearly 2,000 EPIC employees," he said.

On another development, Muhtar said the proposed RM3.8 billion Kemaman Regasification Terminal project could become a catalyst for new investment, subject to approval from the Energy Commission.

He said the project, which involves international investors, is expected to further boost the development of the oil and gas industry in Kemaman.
