Widad Appoints Tengku Shaifuddin As Chairman, Nor Azlan As Group MD

KUALA LUMPUR, July 15 (Bernama) -- Widad Group Bhd has announced the appointment of Datuk Tengku Shaifuddin Tengku Jamaluddin as its new chairman and Nor Azlan Zainal as group managing director effective today. 

The construction service and integrated facility management provider said Tengku Shaifuddin has more than 30 years of working experience across mining, investment, corporate management and research sectors.

In a Bursa Malaysia filing today, Widad said he began his career as an executive with Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd from 1993 to 1994 before subsequently joining DRB-Hicom Bhd as a manager from 1998 to 2001. Subsequently, he served as chairman of S.I. Design Sdn Bhd from 2002 to 2006.

“He also serves as director of Widad International Ltd, London, where he works closely with the board of directors to establish corporate objectives and formulate strategic direction,” it said. 

Meanwhile, the company said Nor Azlan began his career at Ernst & Young and was later admitted to the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.

“Subsequently, he joined Guolene Paper Products Sdn Bhd (a subsidiary of Hong Leong Group) packaging division in 1997 as an accountant before moving on to Golden Pharos Bhd in 1998 as chief financial officer (CFO),” it said. 

In 2018, he joined Widad Business Group Sdn Bhd as group CFO.

“Currently, he is an independent non-executive director and chairman of the board's audit committee and risk management and sustainability committee of Mikro MSC Bhd,” it added.

Meanwhile, Isyraf Widad Muhammad Ikmal Opat, the son of the company’s substantial shareholder Tan Sri Muhammad Ikmal Opat, has been appointed as executive director effective today as well.

“He has served as executive director of Widad Skycore (M) Sdn Bhd since 2020, where he supports the chairman in developing and monitoring strategic initiatives, corporate priorities and key partnerships,” the company added.
